Beyond the Stigma
The Menstrual Hygiene Management Program is designed to promote health, dignity, and inclusion for women and girls, especially in underserved communities. Aligned with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, the initiative also contributes to SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
Menstrual hygiene continues to be a major public health and social issue, particularly where access to sanitary products and accurate information is limited. Social stigma, cultural taboos, and misinformation often prevent women and girls from managing menstruation safely and confidently.
To address these challenges, the Foundation implemented a comprehensive program across New Delhi, Hisar, and Ajmer, focusing on awareness, accessibility, and community participation. Educational workshops and awareness sessions were conducted to break myths, encourage open conversations, and promote scientific understanding of menstrual health. These efforts supported healthier practices while advancing dignity and gender inclusion.
The program under the CSR support of R1RCM and ICT also facilitated the distribution of biodegradable sanitary napkins and menstrual hygiene products to women and girls in marginalized communities, helping improve equitable access to essential health resources. In addition, emphasis was placed on safe hygiene practices and responsible disposal methods, promoting sanitation and environmental sustainability.
By combining awareness, access, and community engagement, the initiative has helped reduce menstrual stigma, improve hygiene practices, and empower women and girls to manage their menstrual health with greater confidence, dignity, and resilience.
