Empowering Communities

Prabhaav Foundation’s upskilling and livelihood initiatives reflect a strong commitment to advancing United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), while also contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality). Through a combination of skill-building, financial literacy, and community engagement, the Foundation has created sustainable pathways for marginalized communities to achieve economic independence.

A cornerstone of these efforts is the handicraft centre in Chandigarh (2013-2023), which empowered over 1,000 women beneficiaries. By reviving traditional skills such as crochet, knitting, and sewing, the initiative not only preserves heritage crafts but also generates income opportunities. Products created by these women have been showcased at prominent exhibitions, enabling market access and recognition. Several beneficiaries have experienced transformative growth, with some gaining national visibility.

During the pandemic, Prabhaav Foundation expanded its support through upcycling initiatives, providing women with fabric waste and training them to create marketable products like potlis, bags, and utility pouches. This initiative, implemented in collaboration with partners such as Enactus under Project Tashin in Delhi NCR, ensured continued livelihoods during a period of economic uncertainty.

Corporate partnerships have played a crucial role in scaling impact. With Jindal Stainless Foundation, the Foundation implemented capacity-building workshops in Hisar, engaging local communities in environmental awareness, gender equality, and social responsibility. Similarly, the scholarship program “Sankalp,” in collaboration with ONGC, has supported over 3,500 underprivileged students, strengthening access to education.

Financial empowerment has been another key focus area. Through partnerships with organizations like ICICI Lombard, Prabhaav has delivered more than 9 workshops on financial literacy and insurance awareness programs, equipping individuals with knowledge on savings, risk management, and financial planning. These initiatives have reached diverse groups including students, farmers, and self-help groups.

This support of empowerment, with regards to digital marketing, financial literacy, photography was extended to the Patachitra artists at Raghurajpur under the CSR support of SONY Bangla entertainment.

Further, Project Unnati under the CSR support of Aquity Financial Services has enhanced digital literacy among 400 beneficiaries, improving employability through computer and English language training. Across all initiatives, the emphasis remains on building confidence, fostering self-reliance, and enabling long-term economic stability.

Collectively, these programs have impacted thousands of beneficiaries, particularly women and youth from marginalized communities, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and sustainable development.
