Fans for Paws

As summer temperatures soared across India, shelter animals face an added burden of extreme heat. Already vulnerable due to abandonment, injury, neglect, or trauma, many rescued dogs and cats were left to cope with exhausting and often unsafe shelter conditions. In response to this urgent need, PRABHAAV Foundation, in partnership with Orient Electric, launched a compassionate initiative to improve the well-being of animals housed in shelters during the peak summer months in 2024.

Under this annual intervention, 234 fans were distributed across animal shelters in six states during FY 2024–25, followed by 154 additional fans in seven states in FY 2025–26. This simple yet meaningful support helped create cooler, safer, and more humane shelter environments for rescued animals. By reducing heat stress and improving comfort, the initiative contributed significantly to the overall health and well-being of animals under care.

The project aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting healthier living conditions for vulnerable animals. It also supports SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by strengthening community-based animal welfare infrastructure and fostering more compassionate urban ecosystems. Further, the partnership reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating the power of collaboration in driving meaningful social impact.

More than a seasonal intervention, this initiative is a reflection of empathy in action proving that even small acts of care can bring dignity, comfort, and relief to those who need it most.
