Golden Connections
Our elders are the storytellers of our past and the pillars upon which our present stands. Yet, many residents of old age homes across India live in quiet isolation, often distanced from family and community. Supporting them is not merely an act of charity—it reflects our collective responsibility to uphold dignity, compassion, and respect for all generations.
Through the CSR initiatives of R1RCM and the active involvement of students, meaningful efforts are being made to reconnect with elderly communities. Visits to care centres have gone beyond material support, offering companionship, emotional comfort, and a renewed sense of belonging. At SHEOWS Care Centre in Okhla, volunteers have organized health camps and continued their engagement, forming lasting bonds. Similarly, students visiting homes such as Geeta Mandir and Silver Lining in Najafgarh have brought joy, conversation, and warmth into the lives of senior residents.
These initiatives align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting physical and mental wellness; SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, by supporting marginalized elderly populations; and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by fostering inclusive and caring communities. Together, these efforts help ensure that our elders live with dignity, care, and a sense of belonging.
