Guinness World Record for Ride to Safety

As implementing partners for ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company’s 25th anniversary celebrations, Prabhaav Foundation was entrusted with executing an ambitious road-safety initiative that culminated in a Guinness World Records™ title for the most helmets distributed in 12 hours. On 10 August 2026, under the Ride to Safety CSR Initiative, 25,468 helmets were distributed across 14 locations in New Delhi within a single 12-hour period - an achievement that demonstrated the power of meticulous planning, coordination and collective action.

The initiative was far more than a record. It carried a vital road-safety message: a helmet is not merely a safety accessory, but an essential protective measure that can significantly reduce the risk of serious head injuries. Particular emphasis was placed on children travelling as pillion riders, ensuring that young passengers received age-appropriate protection.

The programme reached schools, students and parents, with specially designed Steelbird kids’ helmets provided to younger children and adult helmets to senior students and parents. Delivering thousands of helmets simultaneously across multiple locations required extensive coordination among schools, volunteers, logistics teams, parents, students, documentation teams and independent monitors.

The achievement culminated at Kamani Auditorium, New Delhi, a prominent venue for major cultural and public events. The occasion was graced by Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, who addressed the gathering, in the presence of Shri S.P. Singh Baghel, Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying; Shri Rajiv Babbar, Member, Delhi Development Authority; Ms. Sumitra Dahiya, National Executive Member, BJP Mahila Morcha; and Shri S.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Management. The dignitaries also flagged off a two-wheeler rally, with riders and pillion passengers proudly wearing helmets.
