Love4Odisha
Prabhaav Foundation’s Love4Odisha initiative reflects a deep and sustained commitment to preserving India’s rich artistic heritage while strengthening the livelihoods of grassroots artisan communities. Focused on Raghurajpur, a traditional artist village in Odisha home to over 150 families practicing the ancient art of Pattachitra painting, the Foundation has been actively engaged with the community for over six years.
Launched in 2019 with the support of the India Trade Promotion Organization and further strengthened through CSR collaboration of SONY Bangla Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the initiative aims to create sustainable and scalable income opportunities for artisans by enhancing their skills, visibility, and market access.
The Foundation’s engagement with Raghurajpur began in the aftermath of Cyclone Fani in 2019, when the community suffered significant losses to homes, infrastructure, and invaluable artworks. In response, Prabhaav Foundation extended immediate relief and gradually built long- term interventions including infrastructure support for the local school, distribution of essential supplies during the pandemic, and the organisation of regular health, wellness, and eye care camps.
A key pillar of the initiative is capacity building. Through structured upskilling workshops, artisans have been trained in financial literacy, product design, photography, and digital marketing, enabling them to adapt to evolving consumer preferences and market trends. These efforts have enhanced their visibility, especially on digital platforms, and expanded their customer reach.
To further strengthen market linkages and promote tourism, the Foundation established the Shilp Bazaar in November 2023. This curated exhibition space provides artisans with an opportunity to showcase and sell their creations under one roof, resulting in increased footfall, improved earnings, and greater recognition of their craft.
The initiative aligns with SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
