Ride to Safety

Road safety continues to be a major public concern in India, especially for children and families who rely on two-wheelers for daily travel. Recognising this urgent need, in 2015 ICICI Lombard launched Ride to Safety as a flagship CSR initiative aimed at promoting safer road behaviour and reducing preventable injuries and fatalities. Built on the belief that every life is precious, the programme seeks to create a culture where safety becomes a habit, not an afterthought.

A key implementation partner in this initiative is Prabhaav Foundation, which has played a significant role in driving the programme at the grassroots level. Together, ICICI Lombard and Prabhaav Foundation have actively conducted road safety training sessions and awareness workshops, equipping children, parents, and communities with practical knowledge on safe riding practices, helmet use, and responsible road behaviour. These sessions have helped turn road safety into an engaging and actionable learning experience.

Equally impactful have been the road safety rallies organised in cities such as Nagpur and Ahmedabad, which brought communities together to amplify the message of safe mobility. These public rallies created strong visibility around the importance of wearing helmets, protecting child pillion riders, and following road discipline. The participation of traffic police officials added both authority and practical insight, helping reinforce the seriousness of road safety through real-life guidance and public engagement.

Through a combination of training, workshops, rallies, and helmet distribution, the initiative has reached over 600 schools and impacted more than 10 lakh lives, including students, parents, and educators.

The programme aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), primarily advancing SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, while also supporting SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through Ride to Safety, ICICI Lombard and Prabhaav Foundation are helping build safer roads and more responsible communities.
