Stainless Roads

Launched in 2019 by JSL Foundation, Project Stainless Roads is a long-term road safety initiative focused on creating awareness, promoting responsible road behaviour, and equipping communities with life-saving skills. Beginning in New Delhi in 2019-20 and later expanding to Hisar (2022-23, 2023-24 & 2024-25), the programme grew into a meaningful movement for safer roads.

Implemented by Prabhaav Foundation, the initiative reached schools, students, teachers, support staff, and community members through sustained on-ground engagement. Over the years, the programme connected with more than 88 schools across Delhi and Hisar, engaging thousands of students and school stakeholders through repeated awareness and training interventions.

Prabhaav Foundation played a vital role in bringing the programme to life—mobilising schools, coordinating outreach, conducting workshops, and ensuring long-term engagement through follow-up visits and participatory activities. The initiative combines road safety education, CPR and first-aid training, cycle helmet distribution to the school students, Road Safety Clubs, creative competitions, role plays, nukkad nataks, and storytelling sessions to make safety learning practical and memorable.

A major milestone in the programme was the launch of the Road Safety Anthem in 2019, which added a strong emotional and behavioural dimension to the campaign. In Hisar, the initiative further expanded through the impactful Conspicuity Drive, where reflective strips were installed on bicycles used by workers and daily commuters to improve visibility and reduce accident risk.

Project Stainless Roads aligns strongly with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. By combining awareness, education, emergency preparedness, and community participation, JSL Foundation and Prabhaav Foundation are helping build a future where every road journey is safer, more responsible, and more informed.
